THE ORIGINAL Q SHACK

We had The Q Shack cater a meal for our company event for 80 people. If I could give them 10 stars I would. They were on time, waited as we made a weather call due to rain. They helped us move indoors. They went above and beyond, best service. Now let’s discuss the food, we went with the shredded chicken, green beans, Mac n cheese, bbq beans slaw and banana pudding. We had no leftovers, the food was excellent and let’s discuss the banana pudding so yummy. Everyone was so happy with the Food Anna in catering will take very good care of you and your people if you need an event catered. So happy we used them and can’t wait for the next event!

I had the turkey sandwich. It had a nice smoke flavor. The sauce was good. I will pleasantly surprised by the sides. They were just as good as the Sandwich. I didn't feel the BBQ was any different than other cities I visit. I would eat here again.

GREAT FOOD AWESOME SMOKED Q. Sean had the 2 meet combo and could not finish his melt in your mouth smoke brisket and pork ribs. Loved his sides of jack cheese creamed spinach and his collard greens. I had the 2 meat combo pork ribs that were falling off the bone awesome tasty and probably I could use enough adjectives to fully describe their extreme flavors. My second meat was smoked turkey and I had so much I could not eat all that 4 thick slices of moistness. I loved the hush puppy fingers that so good I could eat a bag full by themselves. My sides were that yummy jack cheese creamed spinach and deep fried okra. Both of had 1/2 iced teas. Service was excellent. Wish I lived closer to visit more often. I would recommend to anyone looking for a BBQ place for properly smoked tasty meats.

Staff seemed friendly, and while the place was a little dirty in areas, it wasn’t too bad. Food came out on time, and the variety on the menu—including unexpected items like meatloaf—added character. Brisket Baked Potato: 7.1/10 – A strong dish with great value. The potato was large and generously topped with sour cream and tender brisket. Very filling and flavorful. Chicken: 6.4/10 – Served as a bone-in breast, this was a juicy and flavorful cut, cooked well. Mac n Cheese: 5.7/10 – A fair-priced and decent side. Nothing fancy, just a solid standard mac. Ribs: 7.6/10 – One of the highlights. Extremely tender with a bold, flavorful seasoning. The meat fell right off the bone and delivered on all expectations.

Been hearing about this place for years. First time eating here. Was somewhat disappointed. I’ve honestly ate better food at city barbecue. The spicy baked beans, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese were all NASTY. Not sure why they give you a whole onion with the brisket. The ribs were good. The banana pudding was okay.

I had an amazing experience at The Original Q Shack in Durham, NC. I went with the brisket plate, which included 1/4 lb of REAL brisket and two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and spinach—both were excellent. The plate also came with hush puppies, pickles, and onions, which were a nice touch. The service was great, and while beer isn’t their main focus, they still had a decent selection to pair with the meal. After finishing the brisket plate, I decided to go all in and ordered a small cup of brisket chili. It was just as flavorful and satisfying as the rest of my meal! I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in the area. Thanks for the great food and service!

First time eating here and it was amazing. Made my plate right in front of me in less that 2 minutes. Lots of seating available inside or outside. Lots of pictures everywhere to look at and great music. Very fast checkout counter so place keeps a good pace. Not bad for the price and huge selection to choose from.

Eating at a good barbecue place is like taking part in a foot race, except you're sitting down and the ribbon at the finish line is you loosening your belt. I'm proud to say I completed the Q shack marathon in first place at my table. I've never felt more American then when I took out my phone for a picture and realized I had already taken a Megalodon-sized bite out my sandwich. Q shack had me feeling right. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. If you're looking for an emergency BBQ meal that's quality and filling, this is your spot.
